Annual General Meeting 2006
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Police
Mutual Assurance Society Limited took place on Thursday 4 May 2006
at the Majestic Hotel, Harrogate.
At this year's AGM there were a number of re-elections and changes
to the Committee of Management. The Committee of Management is
responsible for expressing what members want from the Society in
terms of products and services and ensuring the strong link with
the Police Service continues. The re-elections and changes are
listed below.
Sir Ronnie Flanagan, HMCIC for England and Wales was re-elected as
President.
Four of the six existing Vice Presidents were re-elected. These
were Andrew Brown, Paul Scott-Lee, Michael Todd and Maria Wallis.
In addition, two new Vice Presidents, Ian Johnston and Kenneth
Jones, were elected. Sir Chris Fox and John Giffard retired as Vice
Presidents of the Society and they were thanked for their
contribution to the work of the Society during their terms of
office.
To ensure that Police Mutual has access to external, professional,
financial and commercial advice, David Davies, John Heaps and Bill
Taylor were re-elected and Michael Urmston was newly elected as
non-executive directors.
Bill Taylor was also re-appointed as Chairman of the Committee of
Management.
All eight existing members of the Committee of Management were
re-elected. These were Aidan Beck, Stephen Curtis, Nigel Hibbert,
Martyn Ripley, Patricia Wood, Gary Horsburgh, Michael Joiner and
Nicholas Wyer.
As Chief Executive of the Society, Graham Berville was re-elected
to the Committee of Management.
Other business carried out at the AGM included receiving the 2005
Annual Accounts, Report of the Committee of Management and
Auditor's report, approving the 2005 Remuneration Report and
re-appointing PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as the Society's
Auditor.
