What is the PMAS Guaranteed Investment Bond?
It is an investment designed for growth or income over the
medium to long term, typically at least five years. It includes a
small amount of life cover, important guarantees every five years
and is available on a joint basis.
It is a non qualifying single premium whole of life insurance
bond.
How
flexible is it?
The Guaranteed Investment Bond is available to anyone between
the age of 16 and 85. You can invest between £1,000
and £250,000 and make additional investments of £1,000 at any
time.
There is no fixed term, so you can invest for as long as
you like and make withdrawals at any time. But, to give
your money the opportunity to benefit from potential
growth, you should aim to leave it invested for at least five
years.
Where is my money invested?
Your money is invested in the Police Mutual Life
Fund. The Fund invests mainly in mix of company shares,
property, bonds (which are a type of loan to governments or
companies) and cash.
What
might I get back?
The amount you get back will depend on how
long you invest for, the performance of the fund, our charges, the
withdrawals you make, the impact of tax and the outcome of our
other business activities.
How will I know how my investment is doing?
We will send you a statement every year to let
you know how your Guaranteed Investment Bond is
doing. You can also call us on
0845 88 22 999 if you
want a current value at any other time.
How long will it take to complete the application form?
If you’ve read through all the supporting literature before you
begin to complete your application, and have the necessary
information to hand, the application should take no more than 10
minutes.
What
documents do I need for verification of identity?
To comply with money laundering regulations,
we may carry out an on-line identity check with a reference agency
when you apply. The agency will add a note to your credit record to
show that an identity check has been made, but this information
will not be available to anyone else and will not affect your
credit rating.
You can find out more about why we need to
check your identity on the
Financial Services Authority website.
If you plan to send us a building society
cheque or banker’s draft, please ensure that the issuer confirms
the name and account number, either on the front or back of the
cheque together with branch stamp, or with other supporting
documentation.
